Phi Kappa Tau Facebook Application Hits More Than 2,000 Users in Less Than Two Weeks

OXFORD, OH—Connecting with Phi Kappa Tau members is easier than ever! Partnering with the Group Interactive Network (G.I.N.) System, Phi Kappa Tau launched The Official Phi Kappa Tau Facebook Application, the Fraternity’s major networking tool. Released on Sept. 1, more than 2,000 Phi Taus have added the application to date.

"Seeing so many Phi Taus connect in such a short time is a testament to the power of Facebook," said Lane Shetzer, communication coordinator at Phi Kappa Tau. "We look forward to the application growing and changing to fit our members' needs."

The application features:

  • Members Searchability. Find members by chapter, state, industry, profession or specific location.
  • Groups. Find Phi Tau Facebook groups to further your Fraternity network.
  • Discussion Boards. Share ideas and best practices, network and discuss interests with other Phi Taus.
  • PKT Events, News Feed and Announcements. Learn about upcoming events, Fraternity news and announcements, plus easily submit events and announcements.
  • Resources. Easily access Phi Tau and general Greek resources.
  • PKT Points. Receive participation point and rewards for using the application.

"Facebook has clearly won the social networking battle, and this application gives national organizations a way to get on board," said Ethan Fieldman, president of G.I.N. "A member can connect to Phi Taus from across the country or discover a member who may be right in their city--all within the larger Facebook community."

The application also allows each user to add a Phi Tau logo to his Facebook profile and receive important Fraternity updates from the Executive Offices.

Phi Kappa Tau also launched a new website at www.phikappatau.org on Sept. 1 and is now offering chapter websites for chapters and colonies. Visit www.phitaugin.com to learn more.

Founded in 1906 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Phi Kappa Tau is a collegiate fraternity that fosters three core ideals within its membership: learning, leading and serving. Currently, the Fraternity has 85 active groups—82 chapters and 3 colonies, or student organizations in the final stages of being installed as a chartered chapter.
